Amazon Subscribe and Save ideas for May 2019. I don’t just click Subscribe and Save willy nilly—I make sure I’m getting the best price compared to other online and brick and mortar stores.
The 5 items in my Amazon Subscribe and Save box this month: fancy dog food, cheap supplements, baby wipes, and hand soap.
I calculate my savings in two ways for each item:
- How much I saved with Subscribe and Save over the regular Amazon price (10%, 15%, or 20% depending on the item).
- How much I saved buying on Amazon vs. the most competitive store for the identical item because I got the maximum Subscribe and Save discount.
This post includes referral links to Amazon; your price does not change.
1. Eagle Pack large breed dog food 30 lb bag on Amazon (I saved $4.74 with 10% Subscribe and Save discount)
Amazon only gives me 10% off Eagle Pack with 5 or more Subscribe and Save items, but it’s still a lot cheaper than at other stores.
Compare to:
- Chewy: Same price but only offers 5% with subscription, so I save an extra $2.47 buying on Amazon over Chewy.
- Petflow: Same price as Amazon, no discount available. I save $4.74 on Amazon over Petflow.
Look for Amazon coupons on the item page; I got a large discount on my first order of Eagle Pack dog food.
Amazon also carries the 15 lb bag for exactly half the price of the 30 lb bag, which is a good way to test it out on your dog without overpaying or committing to a huge bag.

2. BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin 4 mg on Amazon (I saved $4.74 with 20% Subscribe and Save discount)
This is such a great supplement and after years of trying various brands I now only buy the BioAstin. I stock up on the 12 mg for my husband and myself at Costco when they sell the 120 ct bottle for $40 (normally $10 more at Costco and Amazon).
My kids take the 4 mg and they do not have to use sunscreen. In Phoenix.
Compare to:
- BioAstin’s own store Nutrex Hawaii: $30.09 (I saved $11.18 over Nutrex)
- Vitacost: $24.27 (I saved $5.33 over Vitacost)
The 4 mg astaxanthin gets a 20% Subscribe and Save discount! I saved $4.74 this month and the price is currently even cheaper. Check the price for BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin 4 mg on Amazon here.
3. 21st Century Niacinamide 500 mg on Amazon (I saved 48 cents with 15% Subscribe and Save discount)
I take niacinamide twice a day for my skin and other benefits. This brand is super cheap, and made in Tucson, and it’s a great Amazon filler item to make it to 5 Subscribe and Save items.
Compare to:
- Walgreens: Nature’s Way (I do not use that brand) $4.99
I saved 50% compared to Walgreens, so even if this brand goes on sale BOGO at Walgreens, I paid the same price to buy on Amazon instead and it is a cheap way to trigger my 15% and 20% Subscribe and Save discounts, plus it’s an item I use every day.
I save 15% with Subscribe and Save. Check current price for 21st Century Niacinamide 500 mg on Amazon here.
4. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Hand Soap Refill 33 oz on Amazon (I saved 97 cents with 15% Subscribe and Save discount)
We are super great about handwashing here but have to use gentle soap. Read this: When Should Kids Wash Their Hands? 10 Handwashing Tips for Kids in the Kitchen!
Compare to:
Target: $6.99 with 5% subscription discount. I assume you still get your 5% Red Card discount, so that’s $6.31 with both. I saved 78 cents over buying at Target including both discounts.

5. Huggies Simply Clean Baby Wipes 576 count on Amazon (I saved $1.88 with 15% Subscribe and Save discount)
I don’t have babies anymore but we still go through a ton of baby wipes.
Compare to:
- Walmart: $12.54 for same count; I saved $1.88 over Walmart.
Amazon Subscribe and Save still comes out cheaper even if you buy the largest 701 count at Walmart:
- .021 ea on 701 wipes at Walmart
- .019 ea on 576 wipes on Amazon
