Christmas is a few short weeks away! What’s your Christmas budget?
My Christmas budget is $0.
That’s right: ZERO DOLLARS.

I’m not a Grinchy Scrooge! We actually spend far more than is necessary to provide a Merry Christmas for our family! But I don’t touch a dime of my household budget because of one simple rule:
Spend no new money on Christmas.
What’s “new money”?
New money is money that you expect to be paid. A regular paycheck is new money.
Everything else is found money.
We all learned from Christmas Vacation not to count your Christmas bonus chickens before they hatch, so do not count an anticipated Christmas bonus as new money!
In my book Disneyland on a Budget I detail how I found nearly $600 in free money just by looking around my home and in my various accounts! I applied my Found Money principles to my Christmas budget this year and I found more than $500 in less than 10 minutes! My Christmas budget goal this year is $500—that means I’ve fully funded Christmas 2015 without spending a dime!
